For couples
Household budget for couples: plan together, split fairly
In Sparfuxx every item is either shared or personal. You split shared costs half and half or by working hours, and each of you sees your own share – no joint account and no calculator needed.

Shared or personal
Rent, electricity, the weekly shop: that concerns both of you. The gym membership, your own credit card, your own savings and investments: that concerns only one person. Sparfuxx keeps them apart on every entry. Shared items are visible to both, personal items, cards and assets only to whoever they belong to.
An expense can also be entirely for the other person, such as a present or their doctor’s appointment. Then it counts for them and not for you, even though you paid.
Half and half or by working hours
For each shared item you choose how it is split: half and half or by working hours. By working hours means: your share is your workload divided by the sum of both workloads. Whoever works less pays less, and both shares add up to the full amount again.
| Rent per month | CHF 3'000.00 |
|---|---|
| Person A, working 100 % (100 of 160) | CHF 1'875.00 |
| Person B, working 60 % (60 of 160) | CHF 1'125.00 |
| Together | CHF 3'000.00 |
Split half and half, it would be CHF 1'500.00 for each of you. Each person enters their workload in their profile; both of you see the share that follows from it.
Each of you sees your own share
Sparfuxx always calculates from the point of view of the person who is signed in: their own income, their personal items and their share of the shared ones. In the example above, Person A has the rent at CHF 1'875.00 in their monthly plan, Person B at CHF 1'125.00. That way the app answers the same question for both of you: how much is left for me this month?
Who owes whom how much
A quick stop at the shop, and your own card pays for the whole household. Sparfuxx records who paid for every expense and works out who owes whom how much – traceable month by month, settlement payments between you included.
If you have a joint household account, Sparfuxx shows the fixed amount that belongs in it each month and which part of it each of you covers.
Invite your partner, one subscription for both
You invite the second person to your household by email or QR code. An invitation link is valid for seven days, an invitation QR code for one hour. There is one subscription per household: one person pays, whoever you invite pays nothing. It works just as well on your own – for one person everything is calculated the same way.
How your shared costs would be split by income or working hours, you can work out beforehand without an account in the “split costs fairly” calculator.
Frequently asked questions
Do we need a joint account?
No, Sparfuxx doesn’t need a joint account. Shared items may be paid with personal cards; Sparfuxx remembers who paid and shows who owes whom how much.
Can my partner see my personal expenses?
No, in Sparfuxx only you see your personal expenses. In a shared household the other person sees your username, your email address and all shared items. Your personal items, cards and assets stay invisible to them.
What happens to my entries when I join a household?
When you join a household in Sparfuxx, your previous shared entries move into the new household. Personal entries stay untouched and visible only to you.
Does the invited person need a subscription too?
No. One Sparfuxx subscription covers the whole household: one person pays, whoever you invite pays nothing.
