Budget app for Switzerland: in francs, with QR-bill
Sparfuxx plans your budget in Swiss francs, reads QR-bills right on your phone and, on Android, picks up the payment notifications of your banking app. From that it shows you every day what’s left at month end.
Updated:
In francs, no conversion
Each household uses one currency: CHF, EUR or USD. Nothing is ever converted. Switching the currency only changes the label, never the value of a number. Amounts are written the way you know them from Switzerland, such as CHF 1'875.00.
Scan a QR-bill
The QR code on a bill is read by your device, without AI and without sending a picture anywhere. Only the text of the code goes to the server, and Sparfuxx doesn’t store the biller’s account number. Amount and biller become a bill that you only need to confirm.
Sparfuxx reads QR-bills from Switzerland and Liechtenstein (a SIX standard that replaced the old payment slips in October 2022), plus payment QR codes from the euro area (EPC QR code or GiroCode). It reminds you three days before the due date and on the day itself, and open bills already count towards your month end today.
Banking apps and TWINT (Android)
When you pay by card or with Google Wallet, your phone usually shows a payment notification. The Sparfuxx Android app can pick it up. It only reads notifications from the apps you have ticked yourself; for a new account that is only Google Wallet.
TWINT only partly: the TWINT apps of the Swiss banks are on the list and stay off until you tick them. But TWINT only reports money you receive. A payment made with TWINT you log by hand, or it comes in through the notification of your banking app.
Each notification becomes a draft, never a finished booking. A human always sets the category and assignment.
Salary and month end
The most important number in Sparfuxx is the preview of your month end: your balance, minus what is still to go out, plus the salary still to come. What is still to go out are open bills and the fixed costs and savings from your monthly plan that haven’t been debited yet. As soon as you have logged your salary, it is part of your balance instead of the preview.
| Balance today | CHF 1'480.50 |
|---|---|
| Open dentist’s bill | − CHF 454.00 |
| Health insurance, not yet debited | − CHF 412.60 |
| Salary still to come | + CHF 5'850.00 |
| At month end | CHF 6'463.90 |
If you live as a couple, the “split costs fairly” calculator shows how rent and household costs are split by working hours.
Frequently asked questions
Does Sparfuxx work on the iPhone?
Yes. Sparfuxx runs on the iPhone as a web app you add to your home screen. Only automatic capture from payment notifications needs Android.
Does it work with my cantonal bank’s app?
Yes, if your cantonal bank’s app reports payments as notifications: on Android, Sparfuxx captures from the payment notifications of any banking app. You confirm the first notification, after that Sparfuxx knows the format. There is no connection to the bank itself.
Can I use euros instead?
Yes. In Sparfuxx each household picks one currency – CHF, EUR or USD. Amounts are never converted; switching only changes the label.
Does Sparfuxx capture my TWINT payments?
Partly: on Android, Sparfuxx reads the notifications of your TWINT app once you tick it – but TWINT only reports money you receive. A payment made with TWINT you log by hand, or it comes in through the notification of your banking app.
